Walking Safari Overview

Walking safaris are a complete experience: Not just observing wildlife at level where you have to respect their environment as visitors but also by learning about those that you're encountering.  During afternoon breaks and in the evening talks are given on animal behaviour and characteristics, bird life, plant ecology and medicinal uses, geology, astronomy and history, these talks are not given to supplant your daily safari experience but to enable you to understand what you are observing.Groups are kept to a maximum of seven to ensure group cohesion, convenience and safety.

 They are accompanied by a fully licensed armed guide with a minimum of 10 years wildlife experience and extensive first aid training.  Each walk is also accompanied by a tracker.  The camp is staffed by a chef and also two camp attendants.  Transport between camps is by four wheel drive vehicle.  The camp crew and equipment are transported in a seperate vehicle.  The camp set up and strike camp, do all the cooking, washing up and other camp chores.  Laundry is done whenever more than one day is spent in camp.  The camp crew and back up vehicle ensure that guests are not only comfortable but also free to do what they come on safari to do - Experience wild Africa.

Tents are custom made, large walk in types constructed of wall and ceiling of shade cloth, this incorporates the unique experience of sleeping the open with the safety of being in tents.  Curtains are installed for privacy and fly sheets and side flaps for inclement weather. Beds are comfortable mattresses and full bedding.  A shower and toilet tent are set up at each camp. Food is as filling, tasty and variable as camping restrictions will allow, vegetarians are catered for on request and a full bar, cold drinks, wine, beer, spirits, soft drinks and bottled water are supplied.We dislike the word luxury but the comfort and safety of our guests are our priority and every effort will be made to ensure your safari are enjoyed to the fullest.

Types of Safari

1. NORMAL BACKED UP SAFARI This safari is fully backed up by a support vehicle, tracker, cook and camp staff to erect the camps and do the camp chores.  Walks are done either from camp or you will drive to a drop off point and walk from there.

2. BACKPACKING SAFARI This is not a backed up by a vehicle.  All backpacking equipment is provided and clients are required to carry their own packs.  The safari is accompanied by a tracker, cook and camp crew who will helpwith the carrying of meals and equipment and do the camp chores.

3. PORTER SAFARI This is also straight backpacking but with porters to carry your pack
